General Long Answer:
- What are you better at now than you were at the end of the previous academic year? Despite having to work and deal with soccer schedules from my club, this year I’m better at managing my time and organizing my assignments from all my courses.
- What are you most proud of from the past academic year? Why does this make you proud? I’m most proud of passing my classes. I think this semester was a bit different from past one and a little more challenging,so passing all my classes is what I’m most proud of.
- What went well this past academic year? What tools, supports or resources aided your success? PassAll my classes is what went well for me. And having help from my group members and teachers for feedback is what helped me. And also having the ccny library and extra tutoring from my 195 math classes.
- What did not go well this past academic year? What was missing that made this experience challenging or undesirable? Even though I was able to complete most of my assignments from all my courses, at first it was difficult to keep up with all the work from my classes because of scheduling conflicts with soccer and work. So that is something that was challenging at first.
- What insight did you gain about your own needs for mitigating challenges? Where or how can you fulfill these needs in the future? The insight I’ve gained this year is to not stress myself too much. And getting the proper rest will be important to help with the stress I’ve had this year.
- What did you learn from overcoming challenges? How will you remember what you learned and apply it when a similar issue arises? I learned that challenges like this are something that happens to especially student athletes like me and having the awareness to make adjustments to something I will take forward just in case a similar challenge occurs.
- When did you feel happiest or most at ease this year? How can you experience those moments more frequently? I felt the happiest when I was with my friends having long conversations and also playing soccer or basketball with them at the gym. Time management is what will help me have these moments more often to help me.

- What new ideas, information, resources or research made a positive difference for you this year? What was helpful about these things? I would say having the ccny library, access to tutoring and learning about google scholar are things that have been useful to me this year academically. But learning about the game room in wingate and the gym to build relationships with other students made a positive difference this year.
Short Answer: Course Specific (only this course):
- How has your understanding of the scientific writing process changed from what it was before this class? Before I thought it’s just about writing things about science which I think it is but after taking this class I figured there’s more to it. Like being able to persuade your audience to watch or read something you’ve come up with.
- Where do you believe the scientists’ primary responsibilities are, to fellow scientists, or to the public? Why? I think it’s a mix of both. But I lean towards their fellow colleagues because they have a better idea or understanding to critique their fellow scientists’ work to improve it before going to the public.
- What was your experience with the PSA project? What do you think you learned from it? My experience with the PSA project is actually one of the best projects I had to do so far in college. I learned how to collaborate and make videos using canva with my group to create something that’s in our interests to help change lives. I also learned how important it is to analyze and make something that interests your audience.
- What was the most memorable example of forward Facing Science (or science focused on explaining itself to the public)? What made it stand out to you and what did it teach you about the ability to promote science to the public? I would say the sustainability project to create the PSA is one of the best examples of forward facing science. It stood out to me because we had to make something that appeals to the public, so the process of creating the video needed to be on point in terms of its quality, video length and color etc.
- What will you most take away from this course that could be applied to your future classes? I think what I will take away from this course is being able to effectively present my scientific findings that appeal to the public. By that I mean having the ability to research, and find ways to engage my audience to pay attention to my work in future classes.
